We received a nice spring storm cycle last week here in Colorado which made for some great late season skiing.  Casey and I had planned on giving Dragon’s Tail Couloir a shot and we decided to check it out.  3 of my friends have skied it already this year on 2 separate occasions and we thought it might be do-able. Quandary Peak, Cristo Couloir. A 14er Descent

After Buffalo Jon suggested skiing Quandary’s Cristo Couloir.  I was like “Cool.”  Dave and I had skied Quandary last year after the incident on Mt. Yale.  It was kind of a mental “get back in the game” descent for me.  Due to some terribly strong winds Dave and I opted not to ski the Cristo Couloir last year, so I was stoked to give it a shot. Buffalo Mountain, Silver Couloir, 3/26/2011

I had been looking forward to this trip for months now.  Back in December I casually mentioned to Jon that we may be able to complete a winter descent of Buffalo Mountain.  Jon reacted with such enthusiasm that it got me fired up.  The snowpack in December got twitchy real fast and it wasn’t until late March that we were finally able to get after it.
