Mt. Neva, A Summer Ski Descent 6-19-2010

I’d been eyeing Mt. Neva for several months now and since my pool of ski partners is shrinking by the week, I was stoked when Jon Jay decided to come with me on an attempt on Mt. Neva, in the Indian Peaks Wilderness.  Jon joined me despite little sleep, on what would be a great early birthday gift of a descent.

Skywalker Couloir on South Arapahoe Peak 6-7-2010

So after trying desperately to find a partner for Sunday and not having any success, I decided I was going to ski anyway.  Not being a proponent of skiing alone, I chose a popular line where I figured there’d be plenty of skiers and climbers around.  The Skywalker Couloir is a great steep descent in the Indian Peaks Wilderness which drops abrubtly off the south face of South Arapahoe Peak.  Since it’s located only 2 miles from the trailhead, it is a popular climb/descent for spring skiers.
